So, what with the Trickster and the Pied Piper having their own handcuff-laden subplot in COUNTDOWN, a number of people seem to have become interested in the characters. This pleases me enormously, as I've always loved them both--I realized the other day that they were having a conversation in the first issue of FLASH I ever read. I think I may have imprinted or something. Consequently, fellow obsessive fan blinkytreefrog and I have created piper_trickster, for all your reformed Rogue needs! (Er. Possibly reformed? Sort of reformed? Something like that.) And we're starting it off by posting our co-written seven-part genfic, "Heat." (No, honestly, genfic. For that matter there aren't even any handcuffs in it. There's quite a lot of angst, though.) Part 1 is here.

This is the first real writing I've done in...a long time, really. And I'm quite pleased with it. But I really want to take the opportunity to say nice things about blinkytreefrog, who is a terrific writer, and had the idea to begin with, and did all the research, and who encouraged me and put up with my shameful procrastinating ways when what she actually should have been doing was smacking me on the head. Seriously, she's amazing. Thanks also go to caia_comica, thekeet and Blinky's friend S. for looking the fic over and providing beta. Thanks, guys.

In other comics news, I had very serious issues with the ending of BLACK CANARY #4, which was upsetting because it had been so good for a while. Other than that, though, I've been pretty happy with the last few weeks of comics. Comments may follow. Or not.

I'm going to post posts with fake lj cuts to a few fic communities (secondbananas and comics_genfic spring to mind, feel gree to suggest others) but one chapter behind Snark and Handcuffs so that's the first to have it. Is that okay with you? And are you okay with me posting it, or do you want to post a bit?

Also, can I post to my fanfic.net account the same way? Yay or nay?

I'm going to be away this weekend, so any planning sessions are going to need to be held over until the beginning of September at least.

And BC #4...yeah. Can't blame Bedard for the mandates to 1) get rid of Sin and 2) get Dinah to agree to marry Ollie...but still. "You lied to me for my own good, and that proves you love me" just comes off ALL KINDS OF WRONG.

I wouldn't have asked, since you're so busy with RL, but sure. Once "Heat" is done being posted at piper_trickster, I'll email it to you. Maybe there will even be something be else eventually. The handcuffs give me bunnies...!

Horribly wrong. It's IC for Ollie, but it's Ollie at his worst (well, not quite, but pretty bad), and is nothing that should have persuaded Dinah to even keep dating him, far less to marry him. Could no one have come up with a scenario in which Ollie respected Dinah and treated her as an equal partner (which is what I initially thought was going on when I realized there was a scam in progress) and that was why she married him?

I also had issues with the rest of Dinah's speech; "you were never a good person but I loved you anyway because I'm stupid" does no favors for either Ollie or Dinah. Really, the entire ending needed to be rewritten.

I'm afraid the Western hero I mentioned was a comic-book character from the forties. Have you tried IMDB?
