Back around Christmastime, my family all assembled in town, and a number of us performed our yearly holiday ritual: going to see the LotR movie. *g* (There was some distress about what we were going to do next year. DVD viewings have been suggested.) This time we were joined by my aunt, who I haven't seen in years (she lives on the other side of the country). I remember she liked the movie, although all I can actually call to mind about what she said afterward--we had a Christmas dinner where those of us who had seen the movie talked about it so much that those who hadn't fled the room in self-defense--is that she didn't like the subplot with Arwen, which was met with agreement on all sides.
So. Fast-forward. Last night I come in to discover a package from my aunt sitting on the table. Somewhat bewildered, I open it up. And am greeted by the statue of Gollum-as-Smeagol. I'm lucky I didn't fall off the couch. :)
I am rapidly growing to adore it (I'm tempted to bring it in to work and see what kind of reactions I get it) but I think I'd better keep it away from my other piece of LotR merchandise, the replica of the Ring...
