Sep. 24th, 2003 09:53 amSo a couple weeks ago
kerithwyn posted a chat in which I attempted to encourage a plotbunny that had snuck out of the Teen Titans show and latched onto her. (And I still feel that anyone wishing to see more should mention it to her, although probably at a later date when she has free time.)
GreenyGal8: I've given up on the idea that Batman didn't train this Robin, though. Behavior like this last episode is a little much of a coincidence. :-)
Tasmia13: yeah.
GreenyGal8: I'm still tempted to try and run scenarios where Batman threw him out...
GreenyGal8: *sits up abruptly* Oh. Oh. Oh, no, no, absolutely not...
Tasmia13: *eyebrow*
GreenyGal8: *pauses in mid-screech* Suddenly I'm seeing Vulcan!Rith. I just thought I'd mention that.
Tasmia13: too short.
GreenyGal8: Maybe half-Vulcan. ;-)
Tasmia13: heh
GreenyGal8: Anyway, and I hate myself for even thinking this, but what if Batman's dead?
Tasmia13: hrn.
Tasmia13: Well, if you use my scenario, this is way in the future anyway. ;-)
GreenyGal8: About...sixteen years?
Tasmia13: yeah.
GreenyGal8: (Or possibly a little less, depending on whether it happened during that period where Dick vanished.)
Tasmia13: oh, right.
GreenyGal8: But if Batman's dead, regardless of the timing, then it gets into new and exciting areas of AUness. :-)
Tasmia13: *g*
GreenyGal8: But oh, it explains why we have a Robin and no Batman in sight, and the obsessiveness, and the worry that someone's going to get hurt...
Tasmia13: yeah.
GreenyGal8: *eyes Return of the Joker, wondering if it factors in*
Tasmia13: Batman's dead, and Dick got hurt, and Garth took him away to Atlantis to stay.
GreenyGal8: Poor Clark.
Tasmia13: yeah.
GreenyGal8: *considers* We have to kill Alfred too, I'm afraid.
Tasmia13: yep.
GreenyGal8: Nothing less would keep him out of this.
GreenyGal8: Babs...Robin might have been able to fend her off, especially at that age.
Tasmia13: If she's in Gotham and he's in NY...
GreenyGal8: Or, right, right, sixteen years later. Hm. Babs could be a problem.
Tasmia13: she'd be Gotham commissioner. ;0
GreenyGal8: Yeah, but it's not like he's not visible. :-)
GreenyGal8: Sixteen years later...he couldn't be Tim Drake, really, not with the most elastic working of timelines.
Tasmia13: No.
Tasmia13: I figured some kid picking up on the legend.
GreenyGal8: *amused* I suppose he could be Jason. I always thought BTAS's Tim was Jason anyway...
Tasmia13: more like. :-)
GreenyGal8: He has to have had personal experience with the Bat--he got the training, and more importantly the operating style, from somewhere. :-)
Tasmia13: *nod*
GreenyGal8: Now, do I figure in RotJ...'cause honestly you'd think it would rule out any of the Batclan bringing in a Robin for...quite some time. I'm surprised Bruce accepted Terry in, honestly, and even then he put up a hell of a fight.
Tasmia13: yeah.
Tasmia13: 16 years... maybe Terry trained the kid.
Tasmia13: you should make a timeline. ;-)
Tasmia13: and I should go to sleep.
GreenyGal8: *raises eyebrow* Um, isn't Batman Beyond sixty, eighty years after present, something like that? :-)
GreenyGal8: *sighs* Yeah, me too.
Tasmia13: I can't keep track. :p
GreenyGal8: Trust me, it's well past sixteen. :-)
*shakes head* Poor Bruce. But I like this idea, the thought that there's something dark with teeth lurking beneath the generally shiny surface of Teen Titans, that Robin is in overdrive not because he's built that way but because he's trying desperately to make up for something that nobody will ever convince him wasn't his fault, and here's Babs watching from the sidelines, hurting for him but knowing he'll absolutely refuse any attempt of hers to take care of him (and to be fair, trying to get Robin into foster care if he doesn't want to be there is...a little challenging), and at least this way he's got friends...
Um. Yes. Help?
