I like the first Nightwing costume.

There, I've said it.

In fact, I have always liked the first Nightwing costume. Yes, the one with the collar. And the open front. And the yellow stripes. That one. I like it.

And this is an illustration of why. That boy just looks good in anything...!

I like it too. It's so delightfully bad in that very 80s sort of way, glorious excess, you know. Plus, it's sexy.

He really would look good in anything.

I liked it too. I totally was like yesss! I remember when it was first used and always liked it.

Y'know, I was going to be scared and disagree... but the statue makes it work. o_o

I think it must just be encoded into my brain that I am a Child of the 80s, and so this stuff looks right to me. (Even though I didn't encounter this specific costume until some time in the '90s.)

Isn't that the prettiest thing you ever saw?!

(Okay, the action figure of him in the current costume has a slight edge. But it's a really close call.)

I imprinted heavily on it--I don't think he'd switched to the current costume quite yet when I first started getting into the character--and am very fond.

All Dick are sexy, no doubt. I'm sure he was relieved to be able to stop shaving his chest when he retired this design, though.

That action figure is gorgeous! And it's new, isn't it?

Which current-costume figure are you referring to? There are at least two, if I'm not mistaken...

I was thinking of this one (http://www.dccomics.com/dcdirect/catalog/action/actiondisplay.html?itemCode=hushnightwing&itemType=action). There's another one?

Just solicited, not out till next May, I'm sorry to say.

Of course you do--we all want Dick.

(I apologize. Every so often I am twelve. ;)

There's the version with the utility.. umm bracelets and anklet things. There's also the early 90s suit. Can't think of any others, except the animated seires.

That's the new one, based on Jim Lee's "Hush" design.

There was also this one (http://www.magmaheritage.com/nightwingfacelarge.jpg) -- it's tragic that you can't see the amazing sculpting on its ass, but as you can see this Dick does come with Batman (http://www.magmaheritage.com/batnightwinglarge.jpg). Er, they're a package deal. Er...

And yes, CSM, there was an absolutely horrible figure that was meant to be in the Nightwing suit Mark II, except that the costume was a sea-blue colour and contained a steroidally-muscled guy with no neck. Assorted animated-series-based Nightwing figures also exist.

Never apologise for Dick jokes.

not out till next May

I guess in the meantime I'll just have to play with the two Dick figures I have: the one with the amazing ass and included 'sparring partner,' linked to above, and the Red Robin figure based on Kingdom Come

Oh! Yes, I have seen that one, I'd just forgot about it. (Dick does kind of look like a Monkee, though.)

I was very specifically excluding that one. *shudder*

It's a classic, beautiful, 80s costume. The 80s rock. One of the best superhero costumes EV4R.

After Yellowjacket's.

It is, isn't it? It's incredible. It's weird, it was created already in the sixties, but I never gained an appreciation of it until Byrne and Perez got their hands on it in the Bronze Age in the pages of MTU (the Equinox story!) and AVENGERS. From that point on I was hopelessly hooked onto that costume. There's just something about that costume that makes is so damn ass-kickingly cool.

Well, you would think so, '80s boy. ;) (Not mocking. Me too.)

One of the best superhero costumes EV4R.

Not sure I would go quite this far--and the current costume has a sexy simplicity that automatically wins with me--but it's pretty damn good.

It's the shoulder wings. Or the antennae. Maybe both. And Carlos Pacheo's rendition is simply gorgeous.

Pacheco's rendition of *anything* is simply gorgeous.

I prefer the costume with the yellow goggles though. Pacheco's version was goggle-less. :D
