I love my local library. I mean, I'd love it just for existing, but at the moment I have a specific reason: the posters. You know, the ones with some person or other pop culture focus urging you to read. Possibly your libraries don't have them, I can't say, but they're ubiquitous in all the ones I've been in. And I usually quite like them anyway, but I just got a particularly good dose.

I walked into the YA room yesterday. Looked left. Poster of Orlando Bloom. Looked right. Poster of Morpheus from Sandman. Cracked up, because, man, that's not a juxtaposition you see very often. *g* Spent a couple moments admiring the visual (they were both very nice-looking posters) and wandered over to the shelves.

Then on my way out, I stop dead, because there's a third poster I missed completely. A DC universe poster. Probably about five years old, but oh, I wasn't complaining. All the main members of the JLA, and a correctly colored Connor Hawke, and Black Canary standing right next to him, and Nightwing and Arsenal and Tempest, and Huntress in her old outfit, and Tommy Monaghan and Jared Stevens standing right behind Jack Knight, and Azrael in all his flaming glory, and Alan Scott in the sexy costume, and gee, is that the Ray (know nothing about the character, but it's a cool design), and Beetle and Booster, and the New Gods, and right in the middle of the picture four Legionnaires!

Unfortunately it's posted right over the computers, which means I can't study it quite as closely as I'd like without freaking the users. ;) (I really want to know if Tempest is actually glaring at Impulse, or if it just looks that way...) But I lust after this poster. I want to sneak in in the middle of the night and peel it off the wall. Just...wow. *fangirls helplessly*

You can buy those posters, you know, from the American Library Association. At least, you can buy the most recent ones, I make no guarantees about older ones.

I remember drooling over some comic ones a year or so ago.

I just checked the site (ALA online store (http://www.alastore.ala.org/)) and they had the DC poster in both large and small sizes. I'm seriously thinking about getting the mini poster for myself.

Thank you so much! Mine, mine, mine!

(Also very tempted by the Get Graphic poster. I know it's kind of pointless out of its intended context, but it's just so cute...)
