It’s not even the contents of the issue. Which I liked, actually, although Bruce’s question made me see red--but after getting to the end of the issue, and attempting to see things from his point of view, I can understand where it came from. (I still don’t approve, precisely, but I don’t approve of a lot of things Bruce does.)
No, the problem is that for the first time I’m seriously considering Bruce/Cassandra. (Suggestive visuals aside, I don’t actually think the book was intending that, but, well, there were those visuals...) I mean, sure, I’ve thought about it before, but generally along the lines of, yeah, well, even if she’s interested it’s hardly going to go anywhere. And I still don’t think it would…at present. But Cass isn’t going anywhere. She doesn’t want a normal life, she doesn’t want her own life, she doesn’t want any life but the one she’s got right now, only moreso. What’s going to happen in a few years when there’s an adult woman more or less living in that cave? A woman he trusts, a woman who is every bit as obsessed as he is, a woman who is in many ways a younger female version of himself? Who has been starved for touch most of her life, and whose first language is body language? Maybe it would be a good idea, and maybe it wouldn’t, but trying to convince myself it wouldn’t happen is looking more and more like a losing proposition.
*bangs head against wall*
Well. I suppose it might be worth it just to see the look on Kon’s face...
